Nibbling at the Party's HP ~ Round 6

As the party can yet hear a lowered cry of pain and then snuffling against the door, suggesting something big enough to be heard sniffing against a double-reinforced door, the two active frogs continue, unrelenting, their previously poor attacks.

The first, in 0811, continues to attack Englehart.  The first claw hits AC 3 but the second claw misses very poorly, the thing rolling a natural 1 [eventually one of these fumbles is going to end in a broken arm for one of these creatures].  That is my third natural 1 rolled in this fight, which is definitely above average.

The first claw, at least, causes 2 damage.  Engelhart begins to get the impression that the frog is trying to get past him and into the hallway.

The other will clamber over the corner of the statue and into 1210, where it will attack Pandred.  It, too, strikes with only one claw, the second swing, also causing 2 damage.

At least it is something.  The party can act using the below positions.

Following the Party's move:

And x.p. thus far; as ever, please correct any mistakes I have made:

[I hope your interviews went well, Alexis.]

I grab my 2nd javelin and throw it at C. 7+1(Bless)+1(range)=9 to-hit and 5+1(background)+1(Str)=7 damage.

Alexis, where is the first javelin I threw? I feel like it should be near me, since I threw it at the critter that now lies dead in 1211.

Striking Frog C.

To-Hit: 16 (+1Str, +1 Bless) Total 18
Damage: 2 (+3 Str) Total 5

Let him recover, or strike him down? I go in for the kill, closing with B (2 AP) and attacking (2 AP) (hopefully for the last time).

Attack: 7+1=8 (oh boy)
Damage: 6 (dang...)

Embla,

We can say reasonably that it is near enough to your feet that you can reach it. But because you threw it in a stone room, I need you to make a d6 roll to see if it broke.

Lothar,

Bergthora will scream at you, "Lothar! Let me fight!"

By my count she has 2 HP left. Am I mistaken in that?

Javelin roll: 5

If it is still intact, I pick it up.

Four above zero, Lothar. But since she doesn't die until -4, she actually has 8.

Alexis Smolensk said...

I'll wait for Pandred.

There isn't time this round to tell Bergthora what to do, since Lothar has used his AP and it was obvious you meant to leave her where she is (I've reminded you a few times to remember her moves, so now I'm going to leave her in 0912, frustrated and angry).

Alexis Smolensk said...

Embla, the javelin is in serviceable condition.

[Apologies for the miscalculation. I thought Bergthora was closer to 0 than she was, and I didn't want her to die down here and cause Valda a Fjall to have misgivings about the whole adventuring thing, which is indeed why I had her hang back. I'll get her back into the fray next round.]

[It's easy to get confused in the details: thus the left/right hand question I had to ask a couple of posts ago. I may start to make that formal.

Bergthora could have failed her morale check; but because she didn't, it meant she was still ready to be in it. Perhaps to lay down her life for the rest of you. This is something people do, even when they are only paid mercenaries].

I'm sorry, are we waiting for me? I swung already, and didn't move any further. I can see it on my end, lemme know if there's technical difficulties.

The text, in case it didn't show up for you, is

"Striking Frog C.

To-Hit: 16 (+1Str, +1 Bless) Total 18
Damage: 2 (+3 Str) Total 5"

Damn, ate my post. Did you want to advance, Pandred? You have movement left.

[writing at the moment, as I am doing in the evenings now. caught this while taking a break]

Pandred said...

No, I'm all good. Holding position.

[Normally, I would take Friday off, then start up again at noon my time on Saturday. It is an hour past noon. Last night I was up very late working on getting the last comic in place, another comic that won't go up for three weeks and working at a very tough part of the book that has challenged me since I conceived it. I plan to do more work on that today. I'm just resting now. I'll give my attention to getting the next round up after a bit longer, to sort myself out, wake up, make a few notes, etcetera. Please don't feel I've abandoned you]

The post above is updated and the next post is up. Good luck.
